Apply for MSME registration and get an MSME certificate

MSME registration is a compulsory requirement for all MSMEs in India. It is mandatory for every unit, whether manufacturing, trading or service. The respective state government does the registration on behalf of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

A Certificate of Registration has been introduced for MSMEs to incentivize MSME compliance with their statutory obligations and enhance exports through simplification measures like single-window clearances and exemptions from certain taxes like excise duty/customs duty on inputs/capital goods/raw materials used in the production process etc.

A firm is eligible if it falls within the criteria of the MSME Act.

No, you don’t need to get a separate Udyog Aadhaar registration. You can use the same 12-digit number you already have for other purposes. For example, suppose you are applying for your first Udyog Aadhaar Card and have not yet registered for an Aadhar card. In that case, you will need to visit the nearest enrollment centre and register with UIDAI. You can also apply online by visiting uidai.gov.in.
